Dr. Napolitano did eye muscle surgery on my 12 year old son and what a difference it has made in his every day life. My son has had wandering eyes since he was born and I took him to so many eye doctors over the years until my current primary care eye doctor referred me to Dr. Napolitano. Dr. Napolitano may be direct and to the point but it shows that he is an expert in his specialty. If you want a doctor you can trust with years of experience I would go with Dr. Napolitano. We did my son's surgery at Robert Wood Johnson and the staff there on the day of his surgery were excellent and Dr. Napolitano was able to put my son at ease before his surgery when he was a bit anxious. I couldn't have asked for a better doctor to do eye surgery on my child. Honestly I would recommend him to anyone looking for a specialist. Thank you so much Dr. Napolitano!

I could not asked for a better doctor to treat my son. Dr. Napolitano was patient, thorough, and explained all my options concerning my son's eyes. He performed surgery on my son to repair weak muscles in his eyes. He did not force the procedure on us but I knew it was definitely the best option for him because as a child I was put through the horror of glasses, patches and therapy for the same condition and had to have surgery anyway. On the day of the surgery, we were sent to Robert Wood Johnson in N.J. The staff was amazing. They made my son laugh and smile that he didn't even realize he was having surgery. When it was over, Dr. Napolitano came out and Sat beside my husband and I to explain the recovery process to us. He answered all our questions and didn't rush off. When they took us to recovery, there was a nurse stroking my son's hair to keep him calm as he was coming out of the anesthesia. She saw he was shaking and scared. She rushed to get him a heated blanket and an icepop. She did our discharge papers and told us we can stay as long as we like but if we wanted to take him home to make him comfortable the papers were ready to do so. Up to the point we left she kept checking on us and even walked us out saying goodbye. I can not say one bad thing about our experience and we have noticed a big difference in just a week with my son's eyes. He isn't bumping into things, his writing is straighter and on the line. Surgery of any kind is a scary decision for any parent to make, but with the doctor we chose and hospital staff it was the best decision I ever made for my son.

Dr. Joseph D. Napolitano and his staff exceeded all of my expectations. Dr. Napolitano did strabismus surgery on my eye that I had a problem with for over 50 years he explained the pros and cons of the surgery and I must say the pros outweigh the cons. Dr. Napolitano was able to straighten out my eye and I couldn't be more happier with the surgery and the outcome of it and he was even concerned about how my son was holding up because he knew he was nervous for me. I would highly recommend him and his staff thank you so much for everything

Dr. Napolitano has done amazing job with our 6 yr old daughter, Violet. She's been in his care since she was 2 yrs old for what was a pretty bad eye drift. For almost 3 years, Dr. Napolitano patiently went with a conservative approach (bifocals). As he tracked how Violet's eye muscles responded he was just as concerned as to what Violet's teachers and OT therapist had to say regarding her progress and challenges during that time. So, when Violet turned 5, Dr. Napolitano had a firm grasp on the big picture for Violet- and said it's time to operate. Yep, he was right. Hard choice, but no doubt the right choice. I knew it and my wife knew it. I think even Violet knew it! :) And it went great, and Violet's doing great! No more glasses needed. The eye drift is all but gone. She seems happier and sooo much more comfortable. She's more confident. And she's tearing up Kindergarten right now. For our family, Dr. Napolitano has been a lot more than 'just an eye doctor', he's been a VERY important part of Violet's life.

I cannot say enough about how amazing the care I receive from Dr. Napolitano is. I first went to Dr. Nap on the recommendation of my optometrist. I had little expectation as I have had double vision for 50+ years and no one else was able to do more than put prisms in my glasses which gave me headaches. Dr. Nap listened with compassion and gave me hope. Fast forward, he not only took great care of my eye, he improved my sense of wellbeing. So many specialist have the bedside manner of a toad, looking just at the body part they've studied. Dr. Nap treats the whole person with respect and dignity. He went over and above when he was willing to answer my HS biology classes questions about my surgery. Do yourself a favor, put your eyes in his hands.
