Mixed Experience with OCLI Manhattan Office-One Star for Staff-Four Stars Dr. DeLuca I feel fortunate to have found that OCLI has a Manhattan office near my new home. As a longtime patient at their Long Island locations, this office has saved me from the long drive. This week, I had an issue with one of my eyes and was able to get in quickly to see Dr. DeLuca, who was incredibly attentive and thorough in addressing my concerns. I left feeling reassured by his care. However, my experience took a frustrating turn when it came to getting the prescribed medication. Dr. DeLuca instructed the staff to send a prescription electronically to my pharmacy, and since everything is done electronically these days, I had full confidence that this would happen promptly. But after calling my pharmacy, I found nothing had been sent. My pharmacy is open until 9 PM, so I called OCLI’s office twice the next day—no one answered. I left two messages with no response. Feeling desperate, I called the Long Island office to have them send a message over, but still, nothing. By this morning, I woke up with a swollen and irritated eye. I called again, left another message, and received no response. I then contacted OCLI’s complaint line, only to hear a voicemail message saying I'd get a call back in 48 hours. At this point, I was worried about the condition of my eye. Frustrated, I called the Long Island office again, explained everything, and asked them to directly contact the NYC office. They finally got through, but when I spoke to the person at the Manhattan office, they claimed they’d only received one message from me and insinuated I was lying. I was then told they’d send the prescription over “when the technician had time”—which honestly should’ve already been taken care of. Dr. DeLuca was lovely, but unfortunately, the staff and communication from the office are not up to par. Additionally, you can’t even get a message to the doctor via the patient portal, which only added to the frustration. After all of this, I’m still waiting for the prescription to be sent over—if it’s not processed today, I may have to go to urgent care or the ER, which is really disappointing. While I appreciate the care I received from Dr. DeLuca, the lack of responsiveness and follow-through from the office staff really dampened the experience.

Dr. D’Aversa was great. In particular, he explained exactly what was going on with my eyes in a way that made it easy to understand. Gave me clear direction on what to do and what not to do. Very friendly and pleasant demeanor, and his assistant was terrific, as well as helpful coordinator.

Dr. Deluca and his team are professional, passionate and truly amazing. I feel lucky and grateful Dr. Deluca and his team are taking care of my eyes.

I was well received by the secretary and taken care with the utmost professionalism by the nurses and the doctor afterwards. I had a great time! Thank you to each and every one of you!

Professional and knowledgeable staff; the visit prior to cataract surgery included a battery of ocular measurements, viewing a 12 minute film explaining the procedure and a step by step presentation by a staff member of how to prepare for the surgery. Very comprehensive and reassuring.
