I arrived on time and completed paperwork. Verified whether this office took my insurance before arriving, I also checked the healthcare portal and this doctor was in-network for me, and when I arrived they checked the validity of my insurance as well. Finally while in with the doctor, the doctor asked a lot of questions about whether I have been to other doctors at all yet this year and spent time discussing my deductible and told me that his process is to have patients leave a card on file so the office can address the deductible directly. I mentioned that I have health coverage I am not sure why you need to have my card on file. He said this is how he does it there. I told him I wasn't comfortable with leaving my card on file since in all my years I have never been asked to do that. He said that is how they do it there and I said I wouldn't leave my card on file. He said he couldn't see me and I left. This was my experience. I have a card on file with the gas company and electric company b/c I pay monthly and its convenient. I didn't understand the need to leave a card on file with a doctor's office for a one time visit to handle a visible issue with my eye. He provided the name and number of a different doctor for me to visit.......Adding to the MD's response of "referred you to a larger institution because they have the resources to follow up and often use debt collection agencies which we have never used and do not plan to use." - as a new patient there is no debt because I have not had a service. Your response has nothing to do with a person who has insurance and pays their deductible. Your office checked my insurance - the only card you need on file is my insurance card, not my credit card. Everyone who is employed with healthcare knows how healthcare deductibles work. And NO - if I see a doctor for a cold then if my deductible is 20,000, he is not entitled to my full 20,000 but he is entitled to that office visit amount.

Ive been following Dr Evans for over 25+ years..since the New York ear & eye infirmary. Back then I had a terrible accident at work & he put me at ease. He is an amazing doctor who is thorough, explains everything & takes his time. Most of all he cares for his patients. I dont allow anyone else near my eyes but Dr Evans.
