New York Ophthalmology - Jackson Heights

11/2024. A very hectic office, lots of staff bumping into each other. Mom was taking to several rooms by doctor's assistant. Doctor finally confirmed the already known condition, mom has a cataract, but doctor said with a smile that mom's insurance doesn't cover the cataract surgery, she will have to pay cash. But an appt. was set, but I don't see why, I guess they just wanted to keep getting paid for Appt coverage. What's the point? Fishy business. I won't b returning.

I made an appointment after a friend highly recommended this office. The staff was nice. However, they have students treating patients as part of their internships. I don’t have a problem with students seeing me as I am used to go to teaching hospitals for care. But I do have problem with the lack of courtesy of letting me know or asking if I wanted to be seen by a student especially given that this is not a teaching hospital/setting. To be fair, the student was more detailed oriented than the eye doctor, who spent a max of 8 mins with me. Finally, I went to the office for a routine exam and if I would not have asked for the prescription for the glasses I would have walked out of there without the prescription. In sum, I was disappointed with the service and professionalism of the eye doctor. I would not recommend this place.

Find a different practice. I came here for an appointment and was waiting an hour for tests. Instead of waiting longer, I rescheduled for the following week. I waited over 20 minutes at the next appointment to have the tests done. After completing what I was told was the last test, I waited another 20 minutes for another test. Still waiting for the doctor 10 minutes after said test. This practice is managed inefficiently. The doctor and most of the staff are nice and great but the lack of respect for time is ridiculous.

Their service is pretty good. Unfortunately today January 14 2025 they took extremely large number of patients while they have only one doctor available on duty. Therefore, after initial checkup we had to wait approximately 2.5 hours to see doctor.

Awesome staff. Clean office and well organized. It was just a long wait before I was examined (1 hour and 43 minutes) but overall experience is very good. Dr. Chan is very professional and very respectful.
