I went there for contact lenses with my previous prescription. I asked them to just update it and they did not listen to anything I said. I now have contact lenses so uncomfortable I cannot wear them. All I needed was an update to my prescription but I received an invoice for $190 (comprehensive eye exam), $60 (refraction test) and $375 (fitting of contact lenses). I did not need fitting. I only needed a prescription. My previous contact lenses fitted perfectly but then they would not have been able to charge me the extra $375. The result being contact lenses I cannot wear. Also, if I had known from the start their prices, I would have walked out.

University Eye Center Introduce

For our local users in Taiwan seeking information about eye care providers, we want to introduce you to University Eye Center, located at 33 W 42nd St, New York, NY 10036, USA. As a teaching facility, the experiences reported by patients may differ from a private practice. The available customer reviews present contrasting perspectives that are important to consider when choosing your local "Eye Doctor Near Me."

According to one online review, a customer who went to University Eye Center for a contact lens prescription update reported a negative experience. They claimed that their request to simply update their existing prescription was ignored, resulting in uncomfortable contact lenses that they cannot wear. They also received invoices for a comprehensive eye exam ($190), a refraction test ($60), and a contact lens fitting ($375), despite stating that they only needed a prescription update as their previous lenses fit perfectly. This reviewer felt that the unnecessary services were performed to justify the additional charges and expressed that they would have left if the prices were known beforehand.

In contrast, another reviewer shared a positive experience with their children at University Eye Center. They found everyone to be "very friendly, polite and willing to work with their patients," even with "incredibly fussy, non negotiable 3- year olds." The reviewer noted that the services are provided by students accompanied by their professors, who are licensed ophthalmologists, and described them all as "so Knowledgeable, Kind and efficient," offering a strong recommendation.

University Eye Center is an educational facility where optometry or ophthalmology students, supervised by licensed professionals, provide eye care services. The environment is likely to be a teaching clinic setting. Services offered would typically include comprehensive eye examinations, contact lens fittings and prescriptions, refraction tests, and potentially other vision-related services. A key feature is the involvement of students under the guidance of experienced, licensed ophthalmologists, which one reviewer found to be knowledgeable, kind, and efficient, and particularly good with children. However, another reviewer raised concerns about potentially unnecessary services and high costs. No specific promotional information was available in the provided reviews; instead, the feedback highlights the contrasting aspects of patient experiences, possibly related to the teaching nature of the center. When searching for an "Eye Doctor Near Me" in Taiwan, consider whether you prefer the environment and approach of a teaching clinic or a private practice, and look for consistent feedback regarding the clarity of services provided, the transparency of costs, and the overall patient experience, especially if you have specific needs such as contact lens updates or care for children.

University Eye Center can be contacted at phone number (212) 938-4001 or mobile phone +1 212-938-4001 for individuals who may be in the New York City area and are interested in their services. It is advisable to inquire about the examination process and associated costs beforehand to ensure it aligns with your needs.

I've been getting a yearly eye exam here for many years. It's a teaching instruction to part of SUNY University Eye Center that sees regular patients from little kids to adults. They give a very thorough exam and have an private optical in the same floor where you can purchase or get your eye glasses prescription filled fairly inexpensively. You are seen by interns which are overseen by the resident doctor or opthalmologist. I prefer going there than a regular optical store. You can use the optical store next to them for glasses which is has very reasonable prices and accept insurances or take a copy of the prescription with to fill outside. The doctors are very knowledgeable and very nice. They need the experience and always looking to help the clients who go there for to get their eye exams. The doctors care immensely about the patients and check your eye sight with extreme care. It's across from Bryant Park and have to get a pass from the lobby on the first floor at the security desk to go to the elevators to the floors with the clinics. A few years the CUNY graduate center used to be in the same building but since then the CUNY Graduate Center moved to 34th Street and 5th in where the NYPL Library Midtown Branch used to be. They're really good and worthwhile to get an eye exam here. Right now the eye exam is done on the 5th floor because they're remodeling the floor where they're usually perform the eye exams. The wait time to be seen despite its crowded most of the time is short. I recommend it fully.

A Dr. Selenow blatantly lied to me, telling me that the clinic she referred me to had weekend appointments. I have found out that that is not true, and she just told me anything to get me out of the office.

I visited the university eye center several times since 2005. The experience was always good. However the past visit was not good. I ordered a pair of eyeglasses. And I had the vision exam at the university eye center. I received the eye glasses and the prescription was wrong. The new lenses are blurry and I cannot use them for driving. The old glass purchased from the university eye center in 2017 are clearer..
