Flatbush Optical at Flatbush Junction

I am new to Flatbush and am delighted to have found Flatbush optical which is conveniently located near me. I first went there for my glasses and have a very thorough examination. They have really detailed techniques that is more than just reading the letters with different lenses. They perform the glaucoma test as well as can thoroughly chart your vision with this dot thing. I have only seen a machine like this at my ophthalmologist. I then subsequently brought my daughter here for her first eye exam and pair of specs. She's 9, the earliest age they take and they were so welcoming to her and I. They made her very comfortable and really filled her with confidence about her new glasses. She really didn't want glasses nd they hyped her up so much she couldn't stop smiling at her reflection in the mirror. The beat moment was when the optometrist gave my daughter an AHA moment, showing her the difference between glasses and no glasses and how clearly she would now be able to see the world. I worked with the lady with the brightly colored outfit and cool frames, they called her Delicious, lol

I visited this establishment with the intention of having prescriptions inserted into glasses I already owned. I was informed that I could also select new frames using my insurance, and when I asked whether I would still be able to do both, I was assured that it would be possible. However, I ended up being charged an additional $200, which was not communicated to me upfront. ( Paid with no issues & would have been fine with only one) Additionally, the overall customer service and communication left much to be desired. It seems that they expect customers to have an extensive understanding of the eyewear process.. I brought in transition lenses to have my prescription added, but was not made aware of the specifics of the process. ( I called after pick up to verify). Later, I was informed that I would need to pay extra to have the transition feature be re-applied to my lenses, and that my original lenses (that I paid for to be transition) were discarded. I was also told that it was my responsibility to have requested the return of my original lenses, even though I was not informed of this policy beforehand. Overall, my experience was frustrating, and I won’t be returning. It felt as though customer care was secondary to maximizing profits.

I’m so happy getting my 3 new pairs of progressive glasses! It was a bit costly but so worth it instead of having 2 pairs of readers and progressives. Yvette is so nice and professional! Going to get more eyeglasses soon! 🤓❤️🛍️✨
